Overall sword is in fine shape.  Blade is in fine shape marked JH 1858 AMES MFG CO CHICOPEE MASS.  Original leather washer is present.  Leather grip is in very fine shape showing some light wear.  Pommel top is inspected WAT and JH.  Scabbard is dark overall and has areas of dark to medium pitting with no dents.  A very good looking example of an extremely scarce dated Ames cavalry saber.
